When we first moved into our new home, our master room became my favorite place to hide leftovers from the other rooms. As you can imagine, this place became dark and crowded with barely any space to be creative. An organizing/decor intervention was more than needed in this room.
My first approach to make this space look bigger was to bring in a pendant lamp. I wanted it to be big but at the same time elegant. I found a great option from Kenroy Home called Apothecary with a curved form and a look reminiscent of an old time. Because of the clear glass, the light bounces around the room achieving that bright and spacious feeling this room craved.
My old comforter also needed a replacement. So I took a quick visit to my nearest HomeGoods where I found a new set of sheets, the art you’ll see over my nightstand tables, a set of bright yellow decorative pillows; besides the colorful comforter.
Besides the unnecessary stuff we had in this room, the furniture was also making this space seems dark. Changing the headboard to a fabric one from BHG at Walmart made all the difference. A new natural wood drawer chest from Ikea (and some wood stain) also helped freeing the room from all the clutter.
Hope you enjoyed this room makeover and stay tuned for some hints on how to achieve some of the looks I used here.
Apothecary Pendant lamp was provided by +kenroyhome for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

February 25, 2015 at 5:20 pmThank you so much Summer for taking the time to leave a comment. I really enjoyed this room because it gave me the opportunity to be creative with a different palette; getting out of my comfort zone of neutrals.

February 25, 2015 at 5:20 pmHello Cristina. For this dresser I used two different products. The first one was @Minwax "Wood Finish" in 'Classic Gray' color. After two coats of this, I used @Varathane "Wood Stain" in 'Ash'. Hope this helps, I'll later post some pictures of them. Have a lovely day!

March 1, 2015 at 5:20 amDid you use a bedskirt? If so, what did you use? Thank you!

March 1, 2015 at 5:49 amHello KelliT. Here I didn't used any bedskirt since it's not that tall-of-a-bed and the comforter covered just fine. Hope this helps and thanks for stopping by.

May 19, 2015 at 4:44 pmI love the comforter! I actually went to HomeGoods to try to find it, but unfortunately couldn't. Is there any way you could tell me the brand or pattern name so I could try to order it online? Thank you!
