They say that Summer is just sitting there in the corner, but with the burning weather we’ve been having in Miami, I’m guessing the hottest season of the year has just arrived. Because we love taking the girls out on the patio, where they can run free and do as many cartwheels as they want; I’ve prepare a fun outdoor checklist for a quick (out-of-the-blue) hangout.
Add a water element: I’ve found a simple but extremely fun Beach Ball Sprinkler from Little Tikes at Walmart. Just inflate and plug in the hose and let the little ones enjoy while you watch near by with lemonade at hand. This will keep them busy for hours.
Decorate to your surroundings: I brought a beachy feeling to our patio by hanging some candle holders from BHG at Walmart and adding led battery operated candles (similar ones found here) and some pieces of driftwood. Love the look during the day but also used them at night for a relaxed candle lit mood.
Another key element that brought that sand and sea feeling was the Cool Stripe Tablecloth from BHG at Walmart. The beautiful bright colors instantly transported me to a seaside over at Greece.
Keep them dry in style: While the weather is hot here, my girls like to keep dry and warm from time to time during their patio hangout. I found some beach jumbo towels with beautiful designs and colors that match excellently with the rest of my decor. You can find these from BHG at Walmart here and here.

For lots of fun and great memories you don’t have to go far, just think out of the box and keep in mind this “Checklist when hosting a patio hangout”. What is your favorite summer hangout? Do you prefer picnics or the beach?

June 24, 2015 at 1:34 amI love all of your ideas and my husband and I are currently working on building an outdoor bench of our own, with hanging candles and all! I love your idea for a drying rack, with the ladder design propped against the wall. I haven't been able to find any like it, though. Did you make it yourself? If not, I'd love it if you could reveal the source for it. Thanks!
