Indigo blue is my color of preference after all the festivities and Holiday decorations have been put to rest. This color feels refreshing, welcoming and brings in a calming sensation throughout any room. Sometimes I tend to go a bit crazy about using it in my decor, so this year in order to restraint myself from going overboard, I opted for using blue in my bedroom only.
While I like to keep my walls light and neutral, strong colors and textures will always go around as accessory pieces. Bedding is one of the most important aspects when updating the look of a bedroom. Here the soft blue of the comforter from HomeGoods was my starting point. It allowed me to add pillows with more intricate patterns and darker tones. I chose two large bohemian inspired pillows because they added such a rich texture to the bed and were great statement pieces (all the pillows used are from HomeGoods).
On both sides of the bed, I kept the same side tables but decided personalized each of its decor. On “his” side, things were kept quite and simple, with the use of a large mirror, big lamp and a geometrical bookend. On “her” side, special moments were displayed on the wall in the form of a gallery that created balance with the glass vases over the table.
Window curtain panels with a distinctive indigo Greek key design (from HomeGoods) were also another great opportunity to incorporate more of this “blue fever”.
Gold and amber accents were added to wrapped up this room and to create an interesting contrast with the indigo blue.
Now that this room is all set, lets wait and see how long it will take for me to use this color in another area. Are you a “one color fits all” kind of person, or “the more, the better”?
