I’m so honored to be part of the BHG Live Better Network where, as a blogger, I’ve received compensation by Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart. The opinions stated in “Make them feel at home these Holidays”are my own. For more updates on their products and decor ideas, you can always follow them on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram.
Now that the holiday season is finally here, our agenda seems to quickly get filled. From visiting friends to white elephants gift exchanges, there’s not enough time to even visit the mall looking for that perfect gift. Affordable gift giving (but tasteful) should always be our top priority. And today I’m sharing some ideas to get you off that stressful train!
Surprise the hostess
When coming to a party you don’t want to arrive empty handed; and sometimes another bottle of wine can be so “passe”. For my next party I’m bringing this Better Homes & Gardens Large Stacking Wire Basket filled with the Better Homes & Gardens Etched Aztec Diffuser Set because I know that the hostess is going to need it after the party has ended. As an added bonus I’m including the Better Homes & Gardens Essential Oil, 4 Piece all available at Walmart. Another option is this amazing Better Homes & Gardens Antique Copper Tabriz 100 mL Cool Mist Ultrasonic Aroma Diffuser because of the cooper hue which is trending right now.
Other idea: You can customized this basket depending on the hostess preferences. Maybe add a throw along some hot chocolate ready mix for a comforting time.
From napkins to Christmas stockings
I’m always looking for new ways to surprise my guests! So this year instead of buying the typical Christmas stocking to be filled with a surprise, I created my own with a Better Homes & Garden Blended Weave Napkin from Walmart (you can also use a kitchen towel). All I did was to fold it in half and draw the boot with a pencil or chalk. After this I use my sewing machine (in a loose tension setting for easy unstitching) to create the form. Now I just turned it inside out and folded the ends to create a border on my Christmas stocking. To hang it, don’t forget to add a loop with a pretty ribbon (I hand stitch mine with a ribbon found at Walmart).
Other ideas: On one of these Christmas stockings I added more Better Homes & Garden Blended Weave Napkins to complete the set. You can even personalized these by adding a monogram or even paint them yourself. On the other stocking I added the Holiday Edition Better Homes & Gardens White Church Scene Accent Wax Warmer along a set of holiday wax cubes to complement the gift.
Why a loose stitching? After the Christmas stocking has served its purpose, I will advice the recipient to unstitch it and use it as a napkin (if giving the extra set as stuffer) or as a towel (if using a towel instead, like I previously mentioned).
A timeless lantern
Lanterns can be use almost anywhere (entryway, kitchen, outdoors, etc) and through all the seasons. I styled this affordable gift giving idea with a dash of glow by using the Better Homes & Gardens Gold Glitter LED Pillar Candles, Set of 3. Add some greenery and ribbons to make it even more beautiful!
Other idea: For those cold nights, why not add a set of cappuccino cups that can be also perfect for hot chocolate or even s’mores-in-a-cup!
A sweet gift giving idea
A versatile way to bring the perfect dose of sweetness are these Better Homes & Gardens 12 Days of Christmas Nesting Bowl Set, 3 Pack. Instead of giving them as they come (nested), I went ahead and filled these with different types of sweet: chocolate and cookies. To balance all the sweetness, I even added some holiday nuts. Wrapped them with a pretty ribbon (mine also from Walmart) to add a final touch.
Other idea: Fill these bowls with a simple cookie mixture. On the larger bowl you can add the mixture, on the medium one the garnish (chocolate chips, sprinkles, etc) and on the small bowl the recipe.
A take-home gift
When having a holiday dinner or gathering, I always like to give my guests something special while at the table. This time around I’ve prepared a take-home gift that also serves as part of the table’s decor. Inside these small Better Homes & Gardens Metal & Glass Lantern (Gold Finish) I placed a Better Homes & Gardens Gold Striped Glass Tealight Holder (both available at Walmart) with battery operated tealights and some greenery. The little velvet bow tied it all up to the table’s decor.
Other idea: You can also give these filled with chocolates or other types of candies.
I love how quickly and affordable all these gifts were to create. There are many possibilities within each example and creativity has no limits. Hope this list has given you some ideas for your own holiday affordable gift giving. Would love to read some of your ways to surprise your friends and family with gifts!
