There are so many fun things to do in Summer! One of my favorite activities of this season is to have a relaxing dinner on our patio. When it is not that hot outside, we enjoy weekends making BBQ and watching the little ones play around. Summer outdoor living updates are my top priority these days and today I’ll be sharing with my HomeGoods blogger friends, some great tips for this season.
Out with the weathered pillows, in with the new
The pillows on our dining chairs were one of the first things I wanted to tackle on our patio. Becuase these have been sitting outside under the sun and rain, they were worn out and discolored. I found at HomeGoods a set of 4 gray pillows at an amazing price. To mix things up I added 2 more chair pillows with patterns for the end chairs. The cushioning of these is amazing as well as the quality of the fabric.
Under the umbrella, ella, ella…
It was about time that I placed an umbrella over our dining table. You guys don’t have an idea of how many times we’ve been under this unforgivable sun in South Florida. I found at HomeGoods this amazing sand color umbrella that opens to 9′ wide! Now it is truly a pleasure to sit here under this shade!
Refreshing blue setting
I shared a couple of weeks back a tutorial on how to make some summer-inspired charger plates (find it here). I’m using these again here with combining them with melamine plates in different tones of blue. Both dinner and salad plates have different patterns that I love mixing with the raw cane for a fun and refreshing look.
To repeat the blue color, I added some napkins in a darker tone and used some leftover cane material as napkin rings.
All the melamine plates, fabric napkins, fun plastic cups, and bamboo flatware were amazing finds from HomeGoods.
Centering it all
In summer I like to keep the centerpiece simple. I found at HomeGoods a set of hurricane candle holders wrapped in cane and fell in love with them. I couldn’t believe how these mixed perfectly with the charger plates I’m using.
A driftwood piece and a beautiful wood lantern created a great visual balance over the table. To bring a little bit of color, I added some branches from our tree with mangos still hanging from them. If you’re trying a similar look over your table, any seasonal (and regional) fruit or flower will look amazing.
Now that this diner area is finished and the sun is setting later these days, we’ll have plenty of time for enjoying our weekends with the family. It is truly amazing how some small changes can create a huge impact. Are you ready for spending summertime in the outdoors?

June 21, 2018 at 8:51 pmHi Gloribell! What a pretty name! Just discovered your blog. I live in South Florida too! I am working on my patio also. Although, yours is gorgeous! I love the blues and your table decor! HomeGoods is definitely one of my go to stores! I would say at least 75% of my decor is from there! Nice to meet you and I look forward to browsing your site.

June 21, 2018 at 8:58 pmI bring spring into my home by using nests, birds, and butterflies mixed with shells and driftwood. I know it sounds wonky, but my style is coastal. I found a dough bowl at an antique store and painted it aqua. Then I also found these beautiful cloth napkins with blue birds and touches of aqua that went perfectly with my dough bowl. I added melamine aqua plates with shells and the cute miniature birds, bees, and butterflies.

June 22, 2018 at 7:55 amI don’t bring spring/summer into my house right now much other than opening the windows (which after the winter we have is always a wonderful change of pace) and occasionally having fresh flowers. BUT we want to do over our deck which would give us a new space to go and relax during spring and summer. The homegoods card could help us with planters and other items to make the deck feel like an extension of our home.

Citrus like key limes, bananas, coconuts, pineapple, tangerines, grapefruit, grapes, avocado and mangos. All fruiting now. The trick is keeps racoons away. LOL ;0.
