I’m so honored to be part of the BHG Live Better Influencer Network where, as a blogger, I’ve received compensation by Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart. The opinions stated in Indigo blue, sand colors and a relaxing atmosphere for a summer room are my own. For more updates on their products and decor ideas, you can always follow them on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram.
When the thermometer gets to those dreaded 90° F, we know summer is coming! Usually this season calls for everything outdoors. But those in the South, sometimes the extremely hot temperatures make us move our weekend activities inside. Before this heat wave strikes, I take this opportunity to transform our living room and give it a refresh. Indigo blue, sand colors and a relaxing atmosphere for a summer room, will make this season feel cooler and fresh.
Lively indigo blue summer pillows
Settling for an indoor summer, doesn’t have to feel gloomy. Inspired by those summertime blue skies, I added some blue pillows over our Better Homes & Gardens Gramercy sofa. Two Better Homes & Gardens Navy/Teal Chenille Pillows (22″ x 22″) and one Folk Flowers and Birds (also from Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart) were the main stars of our favorite sitting spot.

Sometime comfort also comes from having s moment to do the things you love. So while we all enjoy a good sofa, sometimes sitting on the floor with a book to read can bring lots of joy. This Better Homes & Gardens Corduroy Tufted Square Floor Cushion is ideal to lay over the living room floor or to take elsewhere because of its handy handle.
Updating the entryway for a relaxing atmosphere
Although our house is small, the entryway is one of the areas where I find most joy when refreshing. This is the first impression our guests get and a great opportunity to extend a warm welcome. I usually have two foyer tables; one right by the side of the door, and a longer table a couple of steps ahead. I found at Walmart the Better Homes & Gardens Avery Console Table which is the perfect size for this area. Here I’ve placed the Woodgrain Touch Table Lamp (Walnut and Brushed Brass Finish) ideal for lighting up this area when coming late at night with the kids. Over at our longer table (which serves more of a decorative element) I’m using a vase as a key holder. The Better Homes & Gardens Tabletop Resin Llama adds a little whimsy to this area.
Living it up during summer
Indigo blue, sand colors and a relaxing atmosphere for a summer room are definitively keys to a refresh room. But I’m also updating the wall shelves, changing the rug for one with natural fiber (inspired by outdoor swings), and refreshing up our coffee table.
As you’ve seen it only takes a little bit of effort to refresh the living room and to bring summer inside our home. What’s your favorite area to change through the seasons?
